AcroPrep™ 24 Filtration System
Eliminates the time-consuming, one-at-a-time syringe filter process by simultaneously filtering up to 24 samples in seconds
- Reduces labor time by 20 minutes per carousel over the conventional syringe filter technique.
- Can be used with any conventional 12 x 32 mm vials; simply transfer your filtered samples from the Waters Alliance* sample carousel to any HPLC sample carousel that houses 12 x 32 mm vials and save both time and labor.
- No need to use cumbersome, individually wrapped disposable syringes. Use disposable pipette tips which are less costly, easier-to-use, and require less bench space.
- Pall's HPLC certification ensures that analytical results will not be compromised by extractable filter material.
- No cross contamination. Each 1.9 mL well is individually sealed, ensuring your sample will accurately dispense into the Waters Alliance sample carousel with no cross contamination or splashing.
- Materials of construction are identical to Pall's Acrodisc® syringe filters; if you are currently using Acrodisc syringe filters, this will reduce the requirements for validation of the AcroPrep 24 filter plates.
- Can be used to process fewer than 24 samples. Simply label used wells or isolate unused wells with parafilm for application at a later time.

Instructions for Use
The AcroPrep 24 Filtration System operates by vacuum. Conventional lab pumps such as Pall Life Sciences’s 115 V (PN 13157) or 230 V (PN 13158)Vacuum/Pressure pumps are ideal for use. For maximum convenience, we recommend the use of snap-cap vials to eliminate the need to remove vials for screw capping after filtration. For applications which do not require a filter flushing or pre-rinsing: The cleanliness of the AcroPrep filter plate results in very low levels of extractables, eliminating the need to pre-rinse the filter. However, if your filtration protocol requires a filter flushing or washing step, follow the instructions listed in "For applications which require a filter flushing or pre-rinsing".- Attach vacuum hose to the barbed connection on the base.
- Place your Alliance sample carousel with empty 2 mL vials into the manifold. Turn the sample carousel until it seats onto the center hub. The sample carousel is now properly positioned.
- Place the filter plate onto the manifold matching the notches on the filter plate with the alignment posts to orient the filter plate over the sample vials in the carousel. The filter plate has a numerically- sequenced label that matches with the carousel’s sample numbers. Make sure that the flange of the plate contacts the whole circumference of the O-ring.
- Apply vacuum to ensure that all the seals are working properly. Slight finger pressure over the blue sample numbers may help initiate vacuum seal. Shut off vacuum source. Once vacuum is fully relieved, pipette samples into the filter wells of the AcroPrep 24 filter plate. Do not pipette more than 1.7 mL (1700 µL), otherwise sample could spill over into the adjacent filter well.
- Apply vacuum. Slight finger pressure over the blue sample numbers may help initiate vacuum seal. Do not exceed a vacuum level of 56.0 cm (22 in.) Hg.
- Allow vacuum to run until all filter wells are evacuated. Continue running vacuum for 10 to 20 seconds, to eliminate potential dripping of samples from tips when plate is removed.
- Shut off vacuum source. Once vacuum is relieved, lift the used filter plate off the manifold and dispose of it.
- Cap sample vials and place the sample carousel into the Waters Alliance* HPLC system or simply transfer the filtered sample to any HPLC sample carousel that houses 12 x 32 mm vials.
For applications which require filter flushing or pre-rinsing:
The cleanliness of the AcroPrep filter plate results in very low levels of extractables, therefore eliminating the need to pre-rinse the filter. However, if your filtration protocol requires a filter flushing or washing step, follow the instructions below.- Attach vacuum hose to the barbed connector on the base.
- Place the waste tray into the manifold.
- Place the filter plate onto the manifold matching up the notches on the filter plate with the alignment posts. Make sure that the flange of the plate contacts the whole circumference of the O-ring.
- Apply vacuum to ensure that all seals are working properly. Shut off vacuum source. Pipette the required amount of solution for flushing the filter into the filter wells of the plate. Do not pipette more than 1.7 mL (1700 µL), otherwise sample could spill over into adjacent filter well on the AcroPrep 24 filter plate.
- Apply vacuum. Do not exceed a vacuum level of 56.0 cm (22 in.) Hg. Slight finger pressure over the blue sample numbers may help initiate vacuum seal.
- Allow vacuum to run until all filter wells are evacuated.
- Shut off vacuum source. Once vacuum is relieved, lift the filter plate off the manifold and remove waste tray. Go to Step 2 in section above.
Vacuum: General Information
- Do not exceed a vacuum level of 56.0 cm (22 in.) Hg.
- Allow vacuum to run until all filter wells are evacuated. Continue running vacuum for 10 to 20 seconds, to eliminate potential dripping from tips when the plate is removed.
